Through the True Travel Foundation’s partnership with Seawilding, we are able to offer each client the opportunity to donate towards their seagrass restoration project. Seagrass is a vital habitat for carbon capture, with the ability to sequester carbon in some instances faster than the rainforest, making it an essential part of the fight against the climate crisis.

Seawilding, based on the shores of Loch Craignish on Scotland’s west coast researches and implements new techniques for the restoration of lost seagrass meadows. The charity’s ongoing work at Loch Craignish has already achieved a major breakthrough in 2025 . Using an innovative technique that transplants mature seagrass shoots rather than planting seeds, the project has seen seabed coverage increase from 10% to 70% in just 15 months, with an impressive 97% survival rate. For seagrass restoration in the UK, these trials represent a significant leap forward in technical success, and likely one of the most successful establishments of seagrass habitat in the UK to date. The True Travel Foundation looks forward to continuing to support their work and to track their remarkable progress.

We calculate the total carbon emissions for each trip through the Sustainable Travel International Calculator and then make an equivalent donation to help fund Seawilding’s work. While this is not a direct offset of your carbon emissions, the donation goes a long way to funding research work into Blue Carbon projects that help alleviate the climate crisis.
